Description

See a presentation of early literacy tips to increase caregivers' understanding of child development and pre-literacy needs. The presenters model the song or rhyme, and explain how each song or rhyme helps children build important pre-reading skills. Parents and daycare providers can use Storyblocks to learn fun new rhymes and songs to share with children. Library staff can use Storyblocks to learn new rhymes and songs for storytime and tips they can pass along to caregivers in the library. The literacy tips and skills presented in this video follow the Public Library Association (PLA) and the Association for Library Services to Children (ALSC) Every Child Ready to Read (ECRR) research-based program of early literacy in public libraries. This video was produced by Rocky Mountain PBS in partnership with Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy (CLEL) and funded by the Institute for Museum and Library Services and Colorado libraries. The video is part of a collection of 30–60 second videos designed to help parents, caregivers, and library staff learn songs, rhymes, and fingerplays appropriate for early childhood.
