The Center for Digital Education has announced that the Texas Education Agency's (TEA) Project Share, a valuable resource for all Texas public and open enrollment charter schools, is among the winners of a 2013 Digital Education Achievement Award.

Project Share is a collection of online tools and applications that provides high-quality professional development in an interactive and engaging learning environment. Project Share leverages existing and new professional development resources for K-12 teachers across the state. It also provides a platform to build professional learning communities where educators can collaborate and participate in online learning opportunities.

The national award recognizes excellence at the application, intranet and infrastructure level for the benefit and quality of online education for students, teachers and the community. Project Share received the award in the Department of Education Digital Application/Project category.

"With more than two million subscribers, Project Share has quickly established itself as a valuable resource for teachers and students across our state," said Commissioner of Education Michael Williams. "While it is always nice to receive a national award, the ongoing growth and use of Project Share is the ultimate recognition that this initiative is filling a need for educators."

Project Share now boasts more than 100 online professional development courses provided at no cost to all public K-12 educators, over 50 collections in Texas Education on iTunes U, professional development for career and technical education (CTE) courses that satisfy mathematics or science graduation requirements, and recently updated OnTRACK lessons for students.

In addition to the recognition awarded to TEA, the Judson Independent School District in San Antonio was also recognized in the category of K-12 Education Digital Application/Project for its Connect! Mobile Application.
